God lies in the details, waiting to be discovered. It is a simple belief that has long inspired my travels throughout India.
You can see a destination, you can touch a destination or you can live a destination. But to touch the soul of any destination, you need to go back in time to relive its rich history and vibrant culture.
Evolved travellers like you seek LIVING, BREATHING IMPRESSIONS of which India has plenty to offer, memories that will last you a lifetime.
India is a land of incredible contrasts and paradoxes, a mosaic of people of every faith and religion uniquely creating an essence so quintessentially Indian.
Overwhelming at first, this country of more than a billion is both a young nation and an ancient country rolled into one, where the past and present constantly collide as one foot remains deeply grounded in time-honoured traditions & the other fervently striding into the e-age.
Delights and sights abound in the centuries old temples, tombs, mosques and forts, in the hustle and bustle and aromas of the bazaars or in the sudden glimpses of serene beauty amidst the chaos.
Religion and ritual permeate almost every aspect of life with festivals for every reason and season. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism were founded here and India is home to the world’s third largest Islamic population while having ancient roots in Christianity too.
An underlying spirit of tolerance enables India to remain a unique tapestry of such varied faiths and cultures notwithstanding brief spells of strife.
India offers a string of magical experiences to be savoured, rooted in reality, verging on fantasy. Mixing stories from the past and dreams from the future and nowadays, hosting you in tradition with modernity.
Personally I have travelled thousands of miles by road, rail and air and everywhere found people smile easily and are generous, respectful and kind.
Powerful images etched on my mind include being surrounded by a hundred curious schoolchildren, all smiling saying “hello madam, what is your good name?” acres of palm trees and lime green paddy fields, a pink sari-clad lady tip-toeing elegantly through the shallows, a saffron-robed sadhu meditating on the banks of the Ganges, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze & the majestic Himalayas as the day’s first sun rays glow upon the snow-capped peaks. It is easy to see why India is called ‘the land of the Gods’.
Mother India holds forth the secret of life in her hands knowing that only the wise will reach out. Nobody travels to India without being impressed, challenged and delighted. |
